The Players decided to again put on Li'l Abner, a musical comedy based on the comic-strip characters created by Al Capp. It was written by Norman Panama and Melvin Frank, with music and lyrics by Johnny Mercer and Gene DePaul. Todd Moeller was musical director and Ray Houle was choreographer. Robert Young, who played the title role in the 1961 production of Li'l Abner, directed this entertaining reprise of the musical 20 years later. Bob Young was musical director for eleven shows at the Forest Theatre between 1962 and 1976.
In 1961, Ron Jensen played the role of General Bullmoose. This time his son David played the role and his daughter Christy was Daisy Mae.
A total of 3,620 came to the six performances.
